FROM AN IDEA TO A BUDGET

How much could your Australia trip cost?

Start with a city, choose how many months to budget for and replace each amount with your own estimates. All figures are in Australian dollars (AUD), for one person.

Changing city resets only weekly costs. Your arrival costs are kept.

Your everyday life

Weekly amounts · AUD

Editable examples from Nōmadas guides, not guaranteed prices or market averages. If utilities are included in your rent, set them to zero. Add leisure and other purchases under “Other costs”.

Studies and arrival

Total amounts for the period · AUD

Fill in each item using a current quote. Blank means pending; enter 0 if it does not apply. Avoid counting an expense already included elsewhere. A bond may be refundable, but you still need the money available.

This is a margin you choose for your plan, not an official requirement.

A budget that makes sense for you

Choosing a city is only the starting point. Your neighbourhood, campus, dates and what your accommodation includes will change your actual spending. Use the result to see what you need to confirm before booking.

1

Compare the full cost

Ask for the course cost for the entire period you are budgeting for, including enrolment and materials. Check insurance, flights and paperwork separately. An initial payment does not necessarily represent the full cost.

2

Think about your arrival

A bond needs available funds even if you can recover it when you leave. If you book temporary accommodation, replace the corresponding rent amount to avoid counting the same nights twice. Allow for transfers and initial purchases.

3

Plan with your own funds

We do not deduct future earnings from your budget. We also do not automatically convert currencies: check current exchange rates and fees when preparing your funds. If travelling with someone, add each person’s costs.

How the calculation works

We add weekly accommodation, utilities, transport, food and phone costs. We multiply by 52 and divide by 12 to get an average month. We then multiply by your chosen months, add study and arrival costs and include your contingency margin. Only displayed amounts are rounded.

Check your estimates against Study Australia. For visa fees and conditions, consult Home Affairs. Actual expenses and visa financial requirements are separate concepts.

Before you pack

Is the calculator free?

Yes. You can use it and see the result without signing up. If you would like help turning it into a study plan, complete the guidance form on this page.

How much money do I need to travel to Australia?

There is no single amount. It depends on your stay, city, course and available offers. This calculator separates everyday living from study and arrival costs. Fill in pending items before making decisions.

Is the result a quote from Nōmadas?

No. It is a simulation based on values you choose and examples from our guides. A guide can help you review options and request an up-to-date course proposal.

Why is a month not four weeks?

Four weeks are 28 days. To compare weekly and monthly expenses, we use week × 52 ÷ 12. This is a planning average; your rental contract and payment schedule may use other periods.

Does this amount prove I can get a visa?

No. The calculation does not assess eligibility or replace the financial and document requirements that apply to your case. Check current Home Affairs information and prepare your plan separately.

What happens after I complete the form?

The form takes you through your contact details and study plans. Depending on your profile and availability, you can continue with the guidance process. You do not need every detail decided before starting.

What can I prepare for the consultation?

Have an approximate arrival date, course length and preferred cities in mind. If you already have course or accommodation quotes, check their validity and what they include. Knowing whether enrolment, learning materials or utilities are charged separately helps you compare proposals on the same basis. You can also note any questions that came up while using the calculator.
